Meals on Wheels
Is a community based service, organized to help the frail,aged,younger disabled and their carers and others with special needs to live in the community where they are happiest-in their own homes.
Who Receives Meals on wheels?
Anyone can receive Meals on Wheels, however, if you have a My Aged Care number or with Disability Services you may only need to pay 30% of the cost.
We are here to provide:
One of the basic necessities of life. We are here to provide food prepared and delivered personally to clients. We have with our Chefs, tasty dishes, priced at competitive prices for your consumption. You can choose as many dishes as you wish, extra desserts or soups, or less. Salads or hot dishes. We provide for special diets:- gluten free, diabetic, lactose/dairy free, vegetarian, vegan and more. We provide fresh frozen meals for weekends and/or additional requirements.
The benefit of a personal visit giving a caring link with a community concerned for the well being of it citizens.
All Clients pay a small fee for the meals
Contact your local Meals on Wheels Service Coordnator, Sharran at 07 5449 7659, preferably before midday, Monday to Thursday hours 7am – 2pm, to arrange an early start.
Doctors, Nurses, Community health workers, family members, or other appropriate assessors can provide referrals. Clients can be self-referred.
Hospital discharges may be referred prior to release to ensure planning for early inclusion in delivery
A Coordinator from Meals on Wheels will contact the client to discuss the Service and any special requirements
